A Different Way of Understanding Your Child

At Perfect Pitch, we look beyond behavior to understand the whole child—their relationships, sensory and emotional experiences, individual differences, communication, and developmental capacities.

Instead of asking only, “How do we change this behavior?” we begin with a different question: “What is this child communicating, and what do they need from us?”

From there, therapy becomes less about compliance and more about connection—helping children feel safe enough to engage, communicate, play, problem-solve, build meaningful relationships, and grow into more fully themselves.

MEET TRACY

Connection Comes First

  • I’m Tracy Merrill Bass, LCSW, Founder & Director of Perfect Pitch Child & Family Therapy, LLC in Milford, Connecticut. I work with children, adolescents, and families through a developmental, relationship-based approach grounded in the belief that meaningful growth begins with feeling understood.

My work is especially informed by DIR®/Floortime, attachment, play, and a deep respect for each person’s individual differences. Rather than asking a child to fit into a predetermined model, I begin with who they are—their strengths, interests, relationships, sensory experiences, and unique ways of communicating—and build from there.

MY APPROACH

Behavior Is Communication.

Relationship Is the Starting Point.

I look beyond behavior to understand what a child may be communicating through their actions, emotions, sensory experiences, and relationships. Instead of beginning with compliance or asking a child to fit a predetermined model, I begin with curiosity: What is this child experiencing, and what do they need from us in this moment?

Through a developmental, relationship-based and neurodiversity-affirming approach, we build from regulation and connection toward communication, flexible thinking, emotional growth, and greater participation in everyday life.

A PLACE FOR PARENTS, TOO

You Don’t Have to Figure This Out Alone.

Parenting a child with developmental, sensory, communication, or emotional differences can bring extraordinary joy—and questions that don’t always have simple answers.

You deserve support, too. Together, we can slow things down, make sense of what your child may be communicating, and find ways of responding that strengthen connection rather than adding pressure.

You don’t need to have everything figured out before reaching out. We can begin with where you and your child are right now.

Ready When You Are

Connection Can Be the Beginning of Something Different.

Every family’s story is different. A complimentary 15-minute consultation is simply a chance to talk about your child, what you’ve been navigating, and whether Perfect Pitch might be a good fit.
